    Q&A

We have compiled a list of questions we thought you'd like to ask, and the answers to those questions

If you are considering entering the competition, we recommend reading the full version of the Call for Proposals, found here.

Our goal is to receive new ideas, rather than ones we have already considered. While we cannot provide specific concepts, here are some example of challenges that could possibly be solved through innovation and technology: Depth and context in current events, big data, 21st-century storytelling, genealogy. You’ll find more about this subject in the full version of the Call for Proposals, here.

Yes. You are welcome to use other cultural materials, and we will be happy if you do. However, there is an obligation to also use National Library materials, and the idea should conform with the Library’s mission and values.

The competition has two stages. In the first stage, anyone can submit a proposal in one of three tracks. The judges will select from among all the proposals those advancing to the finals (the shortlist). We do not limit ourselves to a minimum or maximum number of shortlisted proposals, and hope to receive numerous excellent proposals that will all be shortlisted. Each shortlisted proposal will receive funding of up to $10,000 for POC development of a product that will be presented to the judges. At the competition’s finals, participants will present their products to the judges, and the winners will be selected from among them.

The competition is a collaboration between the Yad Hanadiv philanthropic foundation and the National Library of Israel. Yad Hanadiv is funding the competition and the prizes, and also bears overall administrative responsibility for the competition.

You remain the exclusive owner of all rights, titles, and interests (including intellectual property rights) in and to your submission – no ownership right you hold is conveyed to another party. Similarly, if we provide any information to you, we will remain the sole owners or licensors of that information. For more information, see the submission agreement, which appears as a part of the ideas’ submission page, and also here: www.tarboot.org/en/submission-agreement. For clarification, the submission agreement is an integral part of the terms of the competition.
